To get an event on the calendar, all you'll need to do is submit a post to the month's forum thread (like this one) with information about what you'll be playing. Your post should contain the name of the game, the date and time and any other details people may need (such as IP addresses). You can submit events at any time. 0 comments | Write Comment ![]() PAX East is creeping up on us and it's time to announce the second annual FUN-GINEER meet & eat! On Friday March 22, between 2 and 4 PM*, Android, Digitalfox, Matthias, and I will be sitting in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center's cafeteria to hang out with any and all FUN-GINEERS. Last year's meet-up was a huge success, so let's make this year's even better! ![]() * 2 to 4 is a rough schedule. Last year we said 12 to 2 but ended up departing the cafeteria as a huge group around 1:30. Long story short: It's beneficial to come meet us sooner than later. Post all your PAX East 2013 related photos and stories here! 15 comments | Write Comment ![]() This is gonna be just like last year: If you want to get a Steam game or games equaling about $10 and you can buy* a Steam game or games equaling about $10 for the 24th of December, PUT YOUR NAME IN THIS THREAD. Then sometime later this week (probably Saturday or Sunday) when everyone has put there names here, I'll contact you and let you know the (random) person you'll be buying a gift for. Then you'll gift them your $10 worth of games on the 24th of December, hence the "Semi" secretness of the whole situation. ![]() We're giving these gifts on the 24th (or before if it's completely necessary). On Steam you can add gifts to your account instead of immediately giving them to someone. So if you see something on sale before the 24th, buy it as a gift to be present'd later. ![]() * Be responsible here folks. If you can't buy someone $10 worth of games, don't put your name down. 28 comments | Write Comment The Third Annual Halloween Costume Contest Poll!

Posted by Frothy in Community Events | 08-15-2012 11:35 AM ![]() Tonight will be an experiment in our community's ability to work together. Hosting an MvM game will not be as resource friendly as hosting a game of Left 4 Dead or Payday. A 6 man MvM game will take the same CPU power as a 32 man TF2 server. So this evening we will need to cooperate to make sure everyone gets a chance to play this awesome new game mode. First: We will be hosting one server on the hardware the Hidden server is on. It will be password protected (with the usual password) to make sure only folks in mumble will be able to use it. Second: Anyone with the computer power to host a game, should do so. This mode will take a fairly beastly machine, so not everyone can host. There will hopefully be options within the game to start a personal server to make this even easier. Third: This is important. Be patient tonight. Everyone around you will be wanting to play and we cant have folks pushing and shoving. If we manage to get everyone into a game in a calm and orderly manner, everyone will have a better experience. ![]() Some important information to keep in mind if you're considering hosting a game tonight: - An MvM server will require about as much CPU usage as a 32-player PvP server. However, the network utilization is significantly lower for obvious reasons. - You actually have to set maxplayers to 32 to host MvM (to make room for all the bots). That's why the mode is expensive CPU-wise, to not only simulate all those players but run their AI logic as well. - Forward your ports or temporarily DMZ your computer. This is required for incoming connections. ----------------------------------------------------------- Let's keep tonight civilized and, most importantly, FUN. 12 comments | Write Comment Introducing The New & Improved TF2 Server
Posted by Frothy in News And Announcements | 07-07-2012 03:13 PM ![]() Today we're launching a new and improved Team Fortress 2 server that will replace the server we've been using for the past 3 years. The New York based server boasts smoother performance, better hit registration, and the best quality bandwidth and hardware this side of the Mississippi (probably). So update your favorites and we'll see you on the battlefield!
